By now it is well known that we spend our time indoors more often than outdoors. In fact, this percentage is higher than ever before. 36% of our time is spent indoors, at a workplace. All the more important that this workplace should be well equipped, as it has now become clear that our stay indoors can have a negative effect on our health.
Our health can decline due to a lack of (natural) daylight. Indeed, natural daylight has a beneficial effects on our visual, emotional and functional states. When there is a shortage of daylight, this beneficial effect does not occur. Luckily for us, there are lighting solutions that can mimic daylight. At Lumiparts, we have two, namely the Tunable White solution and recently also the BioUp solution from Signify. Our focus on human-centered lighting is the driving force behind our collaboration with Signify and the introduction of BioUp.
What is Tunable white?
Tunable white lighting is commonly used in various settings, including offices, schools, healthcare facilities, and residential spaces, to enhance comfort, productivity, and well-being by adjusting the lighting conditions to better match human circadian rhythms and visual needs.
What is BioUp?
BioUp is an advanced technology developed by Signify, integrated into Lumiparts lighting solutions. It enhances the LED spectrum with cyan light to support your circadian rhythm during the day. This results in increased engagement throughout the day and promotes good sleep quality at night without affecting the visual experience.

Benefits of the Bio-up module
Optimal Circadian Support: BioUp is designed to provide you with optimal circadian support, with a cyan peak at 480 nm in the LED spectrum between 9:00 and 13:00.
Melanopic Daylight Efficiency: Achieves high Melanopic Daylight Efficiency Ratio (MDER) at various CCT levels, with a dynamic MDER value up to 0.97 at 5000K.
Seamless Integration: Subtle adjustments to the LED light spectrum do not change the visual color or intensity but provide noticeable improvements in well-being and performance.

Video: Creating a Circadian Scene with Casambi
Human-centered lighting is based on the natural circadian rhythm and has been identified as a powerful solution for better well-being and productivity in the workplace. Through the Casambi App, automatic management of the color temperature of adjustable white fixtures can be implemented using a response chart that displays the hours of the day and the color temperature.
