To achieve this, we meticulously measure every detail using our Goniophotometer. What exactly is that? It’s a specialized tool that maps every aspect of a light source with precision, ensuring that our lighting performs exactly as intended.
LumiLAB: Where we test the light
In our LumiLAB, we put our lighting through rigorous testing. Our Goniophotometer measures how light is distributed and how powerful it is – providing us with clear, reliable data on our products. This ensures that the performance of each fixture is backed by science.
How do we measure?
Testing takes place in a controlled environment where no external light enters, and the temperature is kept stable. This allows us to achieve accurate results. Our equipment is regularly inspected and calibrated to ensure consistent reliability. So, what exactly do we measure? Here’s a quick overview:
We analyze lux levels, lumens per watt, durability and lifespan, flicker rating, UGR value, spectrum, CRI, and CCT. This is directly related to:
- The amount of light emitted (lm/W)
- How broadly the light spreads (beam angle)
- Color rendering (how natural colors appear)
- Light temperature (warm or cool tones)
What do the numbers mean?
Our measurements, for instance, show that a fixture with a light efficiency of 144 lm/W provides a lot of light while consuming minimal energy. With a color rendering index (CRI) of 92.5, colors appear fresh and natural. And a color temperature of 3037 K? Ideal for creating a warm, inviting atmosphere.
How does light distribution work?
We also measure how light behaves in a space. For example, a beam angle of 40.3° indicates how widely the light spreads. Our charts show exactly how much illumination you can expect at various distances. This information is especially useful for determining the best lighting setup for tasks or specific environments.
